Building the system behind complex emissions software.
DitchCarbon was a client engagement completed in 2025. The company helps sustainability and procurement teams understand emissions across their supply chains. My primary contribution was creating a design system that could support dense data, varied workflows and consistent interaction patterns. I also applied that foundation to selected product interfaces and a website redesign.

01 / System architecture
Create one foundation for a wide and evolving product.
The platform covered monitoring, calculation, forecasting, reduction planning, data requests, projects, search, accounts and team administration. I organised the interface language across light and dark modes so new product areas could inherit shared structure instead of developing in isolation.

02 / Components and states
Design for meaning, density and repeatable states.
Carbon data depends on comparison, confidence and status. I developed reusable patterns for controls, fields, badges, tables and state communication, giving complex screens a more consistent visual hierarchy while accounting for the volume of information enterprise users need.

03 / Product application
Apply the system where data becomes a decision.
I used the shared patterns in selected product surfaces for calculating embodied emissions and forecasting portfolio scenarios. The layouts balance headline metrics, detailed organisation data and decision controls without flattening the differences between each workflow.

04 / Organisation data
Turn climate records into profiles people can scan and compare.
The organisation experience brings scores, industry context, targets and reported emissions into a clear public-facing structure. I designed overview and detail states that keep the data prominent while making long-form evidence easier to navigate.

05 / Website redesign
Carry the product’s credibility into the public website.
I extended the visual language into selected website surfaces, including navigation, content discovery and the footer. The darker editorial direction gives product information and sustainability content a distinct setting while keeping the wider brand connected.

The result
A shared design language connecting product complexity with brand clarity.
The system established reusable foundations for DitchCarbon’s data-heavy product, while the product and web applications demonstrated how those foundations could adapt across very different contexts without losing consistency.
